3M - SXSW 2016 | The Big Picture

“At SXSW, visitors took a journey with 3M and experienced the role each of us has in the big picture and the power of what 9 billion could do working together.

Sustaining our planet, and our business, means protecting natural resources and empowering individuals and communities throughout the world to encourage progress. And above all else, it means uniting under a common goal: improve every life.” - 3M

The Experience

Launched at SXSW 2016, this project showcased how - in a future world of 9 billion people - the efforts of individuals will make a huge impact on the planet, and how 3M’s diverse range of materials and technologies will enhance our abilities to do so.

We created an immersive environment which led visitors from a dark, dreary and chaotic space to a bright and hopeful space. The audience represented a molecule or particle moving through the atomic fabric of the many materials that 3M produces. The materials are featured are ones that promote sustainability and environmental responsibility.

“The audio-visual experience was divided into five zones, each made of a particular spatial array of elements which beautifully represented the capacity of people working together while exhibiting the beauty of the seemingly simple materials that will be our partners in doing so.” - Courtney Fallow, Producer
